AFTER EYEBROW LIFTING; BROW LIFTING
What should I do after the operation?
In order to avoid more extensive swelling, it is beneficial if you keep your head as still as possible for the first 48 hours and sleep with the upper portion of the body slightly raised.
The bandage on the head will usually be removed on the first or second day after the operation. At this point you can also wash your hair.
The skin of the forehead may feel numb at times and during the first few days you may experience some feelings of tension on the forehead.
When the bandage is removed, do not be shocked the first time you look at your face after the operation. Your forehead and eyes will be very swollen and discoloured. Some bruises may remain for 2 to 3 weeks.
Your surgeon will give you advice on what to do after your operation. This will include, for example, avoiding heavy physical work, not participating in sport, steam-baths or saunas for about 6 weeks and abstaining from excessive alcohol consumption.
The metal clips and sutures in the hair are normally removed approx. 8 days after the operation during an out-patient appointment.
After your eyebrow lift the scars are hidden in your hair and fade with time so that they are scarcely visible in the end. However, wound healing is a slow process which progresses in stages.
Most patients are highly satisfied with the results of an eyebrow lift. Often patients have not realised how much older drooping eyebrows and lines on the forehead made their face look until they see how much younger and healthier they appear after this operative intervention.
However an eyebrow lift, a facelift or other interventions which correct the changes brought about by the aging process cannot stop the aging process itself. It may be that you wish to have a further forehead-temple lift after 8 or 10 years.
You can however expect the success of one single eyebrow lift to be long-lasting.
The benefits of an eyebrow lift are still visible years later and many patients find that an eyebrow lift helps them to look as well and as fresh as they feel.
