As a result of the relatively high complication rate of breast construction with silicon gel implants, reconstruction options have been developed in which a patient’s own tissue is used exclusively to reconstruct the breast.
Reconstructive procedures may be either with pediculate skin-muscle flaps or with free microvascular tissue transplants.
