AFTER THE EAR CORRECTION - EAR OPERATION

What should I do after the operation?
After the operation, a turban-like bandage will be applied, which normally remains in place for a week.
Pain is not uncommon following an ear operation and will react well to the appropriate painkillers. However, the pain should steadily recede – even without medication. In the event of any prolonged pain, you should consult your surgeon without fail.
After one week the bandage is taken off and the stitches behind the ear are removed.
Thereafter a headband should be worn only at night to ensure the result and prevent the external ear being accidentally bent over during sleep.
Children should be excused from sport tuition for approximately three months.
It is important that the ears do not suffer any impact or other injury during the first three months following the ear correction.
Particular care should be taken when wearing jewellery and glasses. Earrings should not be worn during the first three months following the operation.
In the first few weeks after the operation, contact lenses should be worn instead of glasses, or the glasses secured with an adhesive strip on the temples so that the arms of the glasses do not rest on the ears.
With realistic expectations, the right indication and the correct operative techniques, ear correction offers children as well as adult patients a significant improvement in their external appearance with permanent results.
