DANGERS RISKS

What risks or dangers are involved in an ear operation?
If your ear correction is carried out by a qualified plastic surgeon, complications are extremely rare and usually insignificant. Nevertheless there is always a possibility of complications such as infection, post-operative bleeding or an allergic reaction to medication. You can significantly reduce the risk of complications by carefully following the advice of your plastic surgeon both before and after ear correction.
The incision is usually positioned behind the ear. In rare cases, children may develop a hypertrophic scar or even a keloid (a growth on the scar). Should such scar complications occur, systematic conservative treatment is required, possibly with a follow-up operation to correct the scar.
After the operation the ears will initially be swollen and bruising may occur. Infections in the area of the incision are rare and can usually be completely healed by a suitable course of antibiotic therapy.
In the event that the infection spreads to the cartilage of the ear, scars may develop on the cartilage, deforming the auricle. Antibiotic treatment is also vital in such cases. Further surgical measures may also be necessary to cure the infection. Should the ears protrude once again following the operation, the operative procedure can be repeated.
Viewed as a whole, ear correction is an operation with low-complication rates, bringing significant improvements to the external appearance.
