SWEAT GLAND SUCTION

Surgical treatment of hyperhidrosis
Amongst the surgical methods of treatment such as excision, curettage or sweat gland suction, the latter has proved most beneficial in everyday treatment.
In sweat gland suction, a large amount of liquid is first injected into the region of the armpit and the sweat glands suctioned off using a blunt cannula.
This operation is normally carried out under local anaesthetic. During the procedure care is taken that neither blood vessels nor nerves are affected. The success of the operation depends on the number of sweat glands that can be suctioned off. As a rule a permanent reduction in sweat production in the region of the armpits can be expected. Most patients can resume their normal work and duties after eight days at the latest.
