BEFORE LIPOSUCTION

How is my operation planned?
The initial out-patient examination and the first consultation with your plastic surgeon are both extremely important. During this first consultation your surgeon will examine you to establish your state of health, the condition of your skin and identify the deposits of fat which are suitable for liposuction.
Your plastic surgeon will also explain to you whether an alternative method of improving your body contours, such as an abdominal lift, may be beneficial for you and discuss the options and possible combinations of various operations.
Speak openly about your expectations of liposuction. Your plastic surgeon will also openly describe the method in detail, as well as the possible complications and limitations of this method.
If you are planning to lose a large amount of weight, you should do so before liposuction.
Do not forget to inform your surgeon if you smoke or take medication, particularly aspirin or cortisone or other anti-inflammatory drugs which affect blood-clotting.
How do I prepare for my liposuction?
You will receive detailed instructions from your plastic surgeon on how to prepare for your operation.
These instructions include guidelines for eating, drinking and smoking as well as information on taking and – if necessary – discontinuing medication. If you follow these recommendations carefully, you will make a decisive contribution to the problem-free course of your operation.
