COMPLICATIONS

Complications which may occur:
Haematoma (bruises) and swelling are mild complications which soon subside. Further complications which may occur are infections or bleeding. Complications may also arise in the region of the scar, in the form of secondary healing or the formation of raised, unsightly scars. Creams and gels (DermatixSiGel, Auriderm) as well as silicon strips are used to prevent these complications.
A more serious complication is the dying off of the areola with the nipple, which may occur in the correction of gynecomastia Grade IV. An asymmetric result or the formation of dimples can be corrected in a follow-up operation. This should only be carried out six months after the first operation.
