RISKS DANGERS

What risks / dangers are involved in a nose operation, a nose correction?
If your nose correction is carried out by a qualified plastic surgeon, complications are extremely rare and usually insignificant. Nevertheless there is always a possibility of complications such as infection, prolonged bleeding or an allergic reaction to medication. You can significantly reduce the risk of complications by carefully following the advice of your plastic surgeon both before and after nose correction.
After the operation the nose will initially be swollen and bruising around the eyes may occur. Small broken blood vessels may remain as tiny red dots on the skin of the bridge of the nose and have to be corrected later by laser.
In closed rhinoplasty the scars are positioned in the nose and are therefore not visible. In open rhinoplasty or in a reduction of the nostrils, the scars are positioned in a visible region of skin at the base of the nose and are usually scarcely visible once healed.
In about 10% of cases, a small secondary corrective operation is required. These cases cannot be foreseen and also occur in patients who are treated by the best rhinoplasty surgeons. This small corrective measure is normally carried out under local anaesthetic and as an out-patient.
