RISKS DANGERS

What dangers / risks are involved in eyelid correction?
If your eyelid correction is carried out by a qualified plastic surgeon, complications are extremely rare and usually insignificant.
Nevertheless complications such as infections or an allergic reaction to the local anaesthetic are always feasible. You can significantly reduce the risk of complications by carefully following the advice of your plastic surgeon both before and after eyelid correction.
Minor complications which may occasionally arise following eyelid correction include double vision or blurred vision for a few days. Temporary swelling at the corners of the eyes and a slight asymmetry during healing also sometimes occur. Some patients have postoperative difficulties closing their eyes to sleep. In extreme cases, this is a permanent condition.
An extremely rare condition is known as ectropion, where the lower eyelid is pulled downwards. An additional operative intervention is needed to correct this.
