COMPRESSION BANDAGE

Scar care by means of a compression bandage
A compression bandage restricts the development of excessive scar growth, thereby leading to a better scar result. In particular scars resulting from burns, and also scars caused by extensive injuries, can be favourably influenced by a compression bandaged applied at the correct time.
A compression bandage mainly consists of an elastic bandage and specially designed compression clothing which is worn for a longer period of time (often over several months).
A compression bandage prevents overstretching of the area of the wound as a result of frequent movement, which can promote the development of excessive scar tissue. In addition, continual pressure acts as a stimulus for the transformation of the scar into well-functioning tissue and increases the elasticity of the developing scar.
