MOBILISATION OF SCARS

Scar treatment, scar mobilisation by a physiotherapist
A tried and tested method of treating scars, for example following an operation, is careful massage of the scar tissue by a physiotherapist (mobilisation).
By stretching and stroking the surrounding tissue, the agglutination of the scar tissue with the underlying tissue layers is broken down. Specifically targeted tension prevents the scar tissue shrinking and at the same time acts as a stimulus for the transformation of the scar into well-functioning tissue.
The mobilisation of scars should begin after the wound healing is complete (no further scabs, stitches extracted after operations).
